NOTE TO ALL MEMBERS: PLEASE PLAN ON ATTENDING THE SEPTEMBER 20TH MEETING AT THE ELKS LODGE. WE WILL BE DISCUSSING THE POSSIBILITY OF DEVELOPING ANOTHER 1-DAY GEM SHOW THIS YEAR AND ENCOURAGING ALL MEMBERS TO CONSIDER PARTICIPATING IN THIS EVENT; A VOTE WILL BE TAKEN.

President's Message Summer 2018
Summer is upon us and many of our members will be traveling out of state. I myself will be in Canada until early September, and I plan to be back just prior to our Gem and Mineral Show. Please see the link on the Home Page for information on the 2018 Gem Show.
Many thanks to those who have, and have voiced a desire to fill our vacancies. Since no one was recommended from the floor for positions or through our nominating committee, the follow positions are as follows:
As 2nd Vice President (Membership Chairman), I will be moved to the position of President according to our Constitution. I will fill both positions unless someone would like to take the 2nd VP position. Steve Imms is willing to continue to be First VP. Many thanks to Steve for filling the President’s position upon Don Strong’s resignation.
Becky Solon has moved into the vacant Directorship position as well as being the Club’s Webmaster for our website. Thanks Becky, for being so willing to do both. Bill Hedglin and Pete Hellmold will continue as Directors. Bill, also along with Don, heads up the Gem Show Committee along with others who have stepped in as helpers. We have verbal approval from two of our members desiring to fill the Secretary and Treasurer’s positions who will be announced soon upon confirmation. Jim Van Wert has accepted the position of Field Trip Coordinator. He actually has been helping in this area and has done a great job. Thanks again Jim. Jim is the proprietor, along with his wife, of Jim and Ellen’s Rock Shop in Old Town Cottonwood. We are fortunate to have a first-class gem and mineral shop such as his in our community. He also sells many general store items and hobby-related supplies pertinent to the lapidary arts.
So all in all this is the lineup of your new and old members who will be representing you as your new and old Officers. The Executive Committee will be comprised of the President, Vice Presidents, Secretary and Treasurer along with the Directors. It meets the third Thursday of the month at 1 pm and any member can attend. It’s usually held at Bill Hedglin’s House. Address will be provided as needed.
As club members, we're looking forward to serving you as we march forward to a new year of fun and new finds. Any suggestions are appreciated as to how we can make our club even better. Let any of your new reps know your interests and recommendations.
Until September, God Bless and safe travels. Be careful out there.
P.S. We are looking into Venues for our Christmas Dinner this year. Any suggestions, please let us know. Also, if you will be planning on coming, give us a heads-up for a count. I promise it will be Christmasy. It’s usually held in coordination with our December meeting, but we can change that to a separate time, and if preferred, arrange to have the meeting closer to Christmas. We can do a gift exchange too. Think about it. Let us know your thoughts.
Socializing begins at 5:30 pm. The evening's program begins at 6 pm followed by intermission and refreshments. After the intermission, official club business is addressed.
All attendees are able to purchase tickets for our fund-raising raffles held at every meeting.
Our meetings are a great opportunity to network with other rockhounds and take advantage of the useful and interesting information presented during the evening's program. We routinely have knowledgeable guest speakers and fascinating presentations.
Our meetings also are an opportunity to sign up for upcoming club sponsored field trips and to bring and see specimens for "Show & Tell".
Current members are welcome to bring a guest(s).
Any folks considering joining are club are encouraged to stop by and join in person at one of our meetings. Please click on the "membership" link to the left for additional information.
We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting!
